Defy the Conventional: Building your career

A presentation for the uOttawa New Media Club

I believe careers aren’t linear—they’re built through curiosity, connection, and the willingness to learn from every experience. My journey across teaching, research, government, fitness, and event work has shaped a multidisciplinary practice rooted in creativity and impact. This presentation aims to help students and emerging professionals see how their own VIPS—values, interests, personality, and skills—can guide them toward meaningful, unconventional paths.

HUMAN CONNECTION AND HEALTH

An interactive workshop during Institutional Wellness Week.

Health and human connection go hand-in-hand – whether that connecting with your body, connecting with others, or connecting with yourself. This multi-faceted workshop will touch on all three! Come prepared to move, to meet other people, and to explore how health (and physical activity in particular) can be integrally connected with our goals, our relationships, and our overall mindset.

Taking an entrepreneurial approach to your academic and professional career

An interactive workshop for graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Communication, Faculty of Arts.

Despite what you may have been led to believe, academia and business have much in common! Through a variety of exercises, this interactive workshop will apply practices traditionally found in the professional world to graduate studies to equip students with the tools they need to “market” themselves and propel their career forward.
