Popular Culture Poster projects

Every semester, as one of the two final projects of the Popular Culture and Communication course that I teach at the University of Ottawa, students in the course are asked to critically analyze and explain the way that popular culture has influenced them. Using the lens of popular culture, either broadly or narrowly defined, students are as to think about how they define who they are and how popular culture has shaped this definition.

A virtual environment is conducive to this project and allows for submissions in a variety of digital formats, including audio, video and visual files. Thanks to the hard work of my teaching assistant Cassidy, this semester’s submissions can be viewed below! Zoom in to get a closer look the posters - what themes, similarities and differences do you see?
