ENG 1100: Workshop in essay writing

ENG1100 - Workshop in Essay Writing - is a required course for many students in the Faculty of Arts, as well as in other faculties, at the University of Ottawa. The course can take place in either two 70-minute class or one 3-hour lecture per week.

The course covers the following topics:

• The challenges that many people face when asked to write, in academic and non-academic settings;

• Strategies for starting and finishing academic and non-academic written work;

• Identifying and citing credible sources to support your research papers.

I use a variety of assessment tools in this class, including quizzes, reading and response activities, and a short research paper. My course syllabi, teaching evaluations and student feedback from this course can be found below:
