CMN 3100: Law, culture and Communication

CMN3100 - Law, Culture and Communication - is an elective course for students in the Department of Communication. Generally, the course takes place in one 3-hour lecture per week. 

The course covers the following topics:

  • How the law, legal system, and players in the legal system are constructed in culture

  • The impact of mediated constructions on public perceptions of the law

  • Legal frames and narratives that arise in everyday life.

I use a variety of assessment tools in this class, including quizzes, short writing assignments, and a major research paper. My course syllabi, teaching evaluations and student feedback from this course can be found below:
